Hi,

Here is a fruit bowl made in London 1776-77. The length of the bowl is 32,5 cm.

I am looking for the maker, would it be Richard Meach or Richard Mills? I thought it would belong to Richard Meach as there is no pellet between the letters. The problem is that as I know Richard Meach was a spoon maker.

Hi Juke,

I would go for Meach. Registering as a Smallworker would not restrict the silversmith's output, nor would the fact he made spoons, doubtlessly he would make anything that he, or his employees, could make.

The fact that his first address was 'Golden Cup' may suggest be was a capable smith.

Thanks for your suggestion, i believe you are right. It makes sense that also the spoon makers would have made even larger items. I guess main part of the silver smiths did do those items they had technical capabilities of and which they could sell, some specialized likely in spoons however they made also other items.
