Hi,
I would be grateful for any ideas on who this maker's mark belongs to. It is on a mote spoon that I would date at around 1760-80.
Regards,
Martin

Re: Maker's mark help on mote spoom
The closest I can get is Thomas Moore (designated Thomas Moore II by Grimwade, mark entered 21.8.1750). The problem with this is that Grimwade's illustration appears to show a pellet between the letters - and Jackson's illustration very clearly has a pellet. However Grimwade accompanies his listing with the note, "First mark a very poor impression. Reproduction from similar mark 20.8.1757." Maybe the first mark did not have the pellet...

Thanks Phil, you are right it is remarkably similar to that of Thomas Moore. It would not be the first time the inclusion or exclusion of a pellet has cropped up on these forums and undoubtedly wont be the last.
