HI

Who is the maker of this larger London 1913 silver inkwell ? it's hallmarked B R ,the bottom is filled with a black plastic like material (what is this material called?) & measures 4 inches across.

The lid has the letter M for 1907 but looks perfectly original to this inkwell.

THANKS

This is a partial mark. Notice that the R is smaller than the B; this indicates that it should probably continue as BRS or BROS for Brothers. In my opinion the most likely maker is Corke Brothers & Co:

This mark was registered 24 April 1913 so fits nicely with the the assay date. Corke Bros were in business before this date but using a different mark so the 1907 lid may also have been one of theirs which had been on the stock shelf for 6 years.

Thanks Phil, I'm sure you are right.

Isn't it interesting that it's missing letter on both the right & left sides?
