Spoon possible George 3?

Postby happisoo » Thu Mar 07, 2013 8:44 am

Hi - I have been looking through the hallmark sections for the various hallmarks on my spoon and I think I have a better understanding of what my spoon is! However, I can't quite distinguish whether it's George III or IV. So would you please have a look at the links and let me know. I will hopefully add 2 pics but if not please use the links. One link is the whole teaspoon and the other is the hallmarks. Thanks for your time and help.

My apologies I think the "mirror image" has happened - the makers mark is JB

Hi,

I believe your spoon is made by James Beebe, with a date letter for 1833. The duty mark is a George IV head, however this was made during the reign of William IV, but stamped prior to the introduction of the William IV duty mark.

Regards,
Martin.
