help please

I cant figure out if this is sterling or silverplate fake or what I am very new to this so please forgive my ignorance.anyway this serving spoon? is about 12 inches long and I see the initials jb then a lion facing left then a cat facing me then some symbol cant tell and finally a profile of a person facing left when you hold it vertically any help appreciated is it real,fake who made it any help appreciated. No, it's not a "fake", it's a Brit sterling silver stuffing spoon. Starting from the bottom, the marks are Queen Victoria duty paid stamp, gothic "J" for year 1844-45, London Leopard town mark, and Lion Passant for sterling silver. The "JB" maker's mark might be for James Beebe, though his mark was entered in 1811, and so this seems a bit late for him to still be in business, and the corners of the shield don't match (corners clipped on entered mark). Otherwise, I don't have a listing for the maker. Nice piece (I'm partial to soup ladles and stuffing spoons).

thank you silversurfer I am not good at this at all just beginning really.The item just caught my eye and it pardon the saying but it seemed to be cheap as chips to me.so I got it and I do like it and it being almost 12 inches long I thought it was an odd piece.
