Name of pattern on this British sterling spoon?

Postby cadien » Mon Jan 16, 2006 10:53 am

(Note: I believe my original query in this vein was deleted because it did not conform to the rules; I have revised the query, however, and hope it now conforms to the rules.)

Hi! Does anyone know the name of the pattern used on the below British sterling spoon, made in 1820 by William Chawner? (See below three images.)

Fraid I'm no expert on patterns but I believe this is known as a 'fiddle pattern'. No doubt someone will correct me if I am wrong.
Best wishes, Mike.

"Fiddle" or "Fiddleback" style - I would not call it a pattern though, as it relates to the overall shape of the spoon c.f. the particular embellishments or designs of the spoon.
