1820 London Coffeepot - Maker IC/WR?

Postby aw » Thu Aug 06, 2009 11:32 pm

Hello, I am struggling with this coffeepot, shown with a similar teapot. The teapot, with creamer & sugar are marked for London, 1819, Thomas Robbins. This similar coffeepot appears to have been made the following year, 1820 by a different silversmith, LC/WR in a clover cartouche; or IC/WR; or JC/WR.

Any suggestions? Thanks, AMW

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

It's IC/WR, the mark entered by Joseph Cradock and William Ker Reid.

The mark was first entered on the 8th June 1812.

William Ker Reid was the son of the famous Newcastle Silversmith Christian Ker Reid.
