Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

Great item! Made by Sebastian and James Crespell and assayed at London in 1773.

Can you post a close up of the engraving?

Weigh the item, and you may find out that 20" 13 stands for 20 oz and 13 pennyweights. However, it may weigh a bit less because of centuries of polishing.

Like Trev, I'd also like to see a close-up of the coat-of-arms.

'Honour follows against his will', appears to be connected with the Marquess of Donegal who had a very similar Coat of Arms.

The maker's mark shown would have been one of those entered in the missing Largeworkers Register. The date of entry would have been c.1760.

Sebastian and James Crespell were Huguenot goldsmiths of the highest quality, there output appears to have been almost solely for the highly important firm of Parker & Wakelin, later Wakelin & Taylor and later still Wakelin & Garrard. Because of this connection, fortunately much of their work records survive and are contained within the ledgers of Edward Wakelin that are held at the Victioria & Albert Museum in London.

It may well be possible to identify your item from this source.
