Swedish / Danish ? Silver Box, Maker HJ

Can anyone shed any light on the marks on this little box? The first thing I noticed was that the date code is missing, then I noticed that the 3 crowns mark is in an oval shaped punch which I believe is an import mark. I suppose the box could possibly be a Danish import. The inscription isn't much of a clue. P. J. Sandberg på 85 års dagen means P.J. Sandberg on his 85th birthday in Swedish or Danish.

Any ideas who HJ might be? And which Swedish town has the letter S?

You are almost correct. The 3 crowns in oval = swedish import.
S = silver
These 2 marks are set after control in Sweden.
As it is not swedish - no town or year mark should be at the box.

I think that 830 + s = 830 silver, and that those marks have been set in the country of origin and so has the maker. HJ beeing the maker.
If we soppose that he is Danish (and I say soppose) and the box look like beginning 1900 - we do have a dane Hans Jensen & Co in Copenhagen 1899-1937

But the seperaton 830 + S is not typically danish. (However it might exist) i would say that I would rather have seen the 3 towers for silver (expected).
It might as well be norwegian. And other countries might also be.

The inscription might be written in Sweden - it could also be danish. These word are not different in denmark or sweden.

We also lack the guardein CFH - I would expect his mark as well as the 3 towers. But both were not absolutely nesseasarry.

I think the indskription is in danish, but the 3 crones is swedish.
The inskriotion says: P. J Sandberg (name on whom recieved it) on the 85 year birthday. Its a gift

The inscription could also be Norwegian. We would write it in excactly that way. If we suppose this item is close to 100 years old, wouldn't a Dane write paa and not på?
There was a Norwegian silversmith in Bergen, Hartvig Jentoft Jeppesen who stamped with the initials HJ, very similiar to the mark on your box. He died in 1900, so maybe that excludes him?
