Identification Of Makers Mark On Solid Silver Shoe Buckle From 1820

Post by mygoldrocks »

HI Everyone,
Can anyone help with the Identification Of Makers Mark On This Large Solid Silver Shoe Buckle From 1820, it does not have any hallmarks apart from the makers mark which looks like "SPC" as well as being inscribe with "MCDJ" and the date 1820, I would say that it predates 1820.

The mark is actually SPO. The buckle is made in Randers in Denmark. The maker is Søren Peter Odgaard. He was born around 1791 and he passed away around 1833. His working period begun in 1815. His widow continued with the business to 1853 (when she died).
