Possible Alf Lohne mark on sugar pincers

Post by OldSchool »

I have had some success identifying marks on a series of Scandinavian silver items, mostly from Norway, and the majority from silversmiths in Trondheim. However, this one eludes me. Any suggestions?

I did wonder if it was "A Loh ..." being the start of a mark for Alf Lohne, of Bergen, but can find no record of him independent of his brother Johan.

Thanks Trev. Yes, it could be. I'd read it as A Loh, but it could easily be A Sch on second examination.

Although most of Scharning's output seems to have been enamelled jewellery, similar to David Andersen, I did find a silver-plated set of sugar pincers, to a very sinilar design, clearly marked for Scharning:

We have note of a script mark used by Albert Scharning here:

Thanks again Trev. I was looking for a picture, but have now spotted the textual reference.
