Hi,
It is Sweden. Date code is obliterated.
Try to identify at least the first letter of maker`s mane.

Yes, Sweden but please clean the marks with a brush, toothpick or similar.

Hi

Thank you for the replies, I have completely cleaned the marks, however I think rather than being worn they have been poorly struck.

It looks like the letter "N" but all I can come up with is {Nils Leonard Dahlström, Örebro 1880} and there is too much room for doubt. ::::

What if that town mark to the right is a winged horse (Pegasus) symbol? ::: Anton Jakob Jörgensson, Ystad 1832. :::: This could be it. ::::

Hi,
It is always useful to know what is searched for under higher magnification; this is better struck mark of Anton Jakob Jörgensson, Ystad 1832, to compare with.

You are welcome. :::: Do you believe the mystery has been solved? ::: The last 4 letters seem to be a match, but the first letters seem completely obliterated, but you have the best viewpoint with the object in hand, of course. ::

Hi Aguest, even with the object in hand and under a decent loupe, the detail is no clearer than in the posted image.

I think it must have been struck with a damaged punch, as the original gilding is intact on all of the marks, so it is not down to wear of an originally good strike. I guess I wont ever be able to positively attribute it.

Thanks Again

For what it's worth, to my eye, the last five letters appear to be 'ONSON', but just can't really make out the other letters obscured by the mark they were struck over, but suspect the first letter may be an 'S'. Whether I matched the size of the letters or the outline to the size of the mystery mark, seems clear the 'Jörgenson/Jörgensson' mark is not a match...
