old silver box can’t identify the silver hallmark

Post by saras »

Hello everyone. I have inherited my grandmother’s silver box. In my opinion it’s very old. I have no idea at all about the origin of the pieces!I can’t identify the silver hallmark, and the maker’s mark. For any assistance I would be very grateful. Best regards, Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Welcome to the Forum.

The box appears to be Danish and assayed in 1754.

See Christopher Fabritius here: https://www.925-1000.com/dm_Assay.html

Hopefully another member can identify the maker.

Please start another topic with your other item.

Trev.

Hello!
The maker is Jens Christensen from Copenhagen (worked in 1721-1734). After his death in 1734, his widow continued to work till 1762.
