After reading the list of Danish makers, can anyone confirm this is CA Christensens, please? And, just out of curiosity, if it is Danish, round abouts when did Danmark stop using the 3-tower mark? (Curious about another piece). Thanks so much in advance!

3-towers was used in 1608 for the first time.
The 3 towers is the city mark of Copenhagen and every year a new mark was prodused. Shifting of the year but also the look of the towers.
January 1st 1893 it becomes up to the individual whether he wants to stamp his work.
At the same time the 3 towers can be used all over Denmark.
In 1977 they stopped manufacturing new marks with the 3 towers.

Check out Norway.This kind of marking with only a name or firm mark and the purity of silver was also used there.

Hi :) Thank you both for the information, one more quick question on the 3 towered castle...I have a set of spoons then marked with the 3 towers & "74" beneath it...can I assume that's for 1874, or is it possible it's 1974? Takk skal du ha, Anita

It can be 1674, 1774, 1874 or 1974 post a picture and I shall identify.
Most likely its 1874 otherwise you can see that it new.
However I have just bought a 1831 piece, seller asumed it to be 1931 due to its perfect condition.

The book contains only marks until 1870 så here you have 1870. Every year had its own different 3 towers so you can see what year from the towers even if the year is not visible.


Unfortunately the book has been sold out and is very difficult to get.

Sometimes the moon is facing left sometimes it faces right. Different stars. Different towers sometimes slim and some times ... and so on.
