Finally managed to find a Finnish serving spoon, Finnish silver cutlery seems very hard to find. This one is in perfect condition and is dated 1889 made in Oulu. The maker is CJH, anyone know who that is? It really is a superb spoon and I'm so happy to get this.

Nice to at least sometime see Finnish objects here, thanks for showing it. Finnish objects are rather rare and seldom seen. The wars have destroyed a lot of of them and, in addition, Finland is a big country but with a small population of only about 5 million inhabitants, so there is not so much found on the market.

Nonetheless, your spoon is made by Carl Jacob Hedman working in Oulu 1862-1891. The fineness is 13 Lots being 812,5/1000. The pattern seems to be a version of the "Helsinki"-model, the engraving excluded.

Thank you kindly for the info it's always good to know more about the maker. It came from the US so I'd imagine it was taken over there by Finnish migrants who settled there a century ago. It looks like it's never been used.
