Swedish Spoons - Help with maker's mark and assay please

Postby Eliot » Mon Aug 17, 2015 11:41 pm

Hello - I have a set of 6 Swedish spoons which I need help with please. The 4 (14cm) on the right are all marked on the front: city mark is a bishop for Lidköping, country mark Sweden, maker's mark iA which could mean JA?, and M4 for 1842. The 2 (13.2 cm) spoons on the left are marked on the back; one has an unreadable maker (DE or HE?) with possibly Stockholm or Göteborg city mark and C7 for 1905. The other (marks are not pictured) has the bishop city mark and IA again with no date mark. Did I get the city/assay mark of Lidköping correct? Does the iA or IA really mean JA and if so, any ideas on the maker? Also, can anyone decipher the maker's mark and assay mark on the one with the C7? Am I correct in assuming this is Gammal Fransk /Palmes Swedoise? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Ann

Hi!

Maker I.A is Nils Jakob Adamsson, in Norrköping (Sweden)

The other one is hallmarked Stockholm but is it HE, LE, or something else sorry but can't tell.

You can browse swedish hallmarks on http://www.silverstamplar.com/

Best
Thomas
