Danish dognose spoon?

Postby mk209 » Wed Aug 05, 2015 5:05 pm

Typically Danish in the upturned dognose but hopefully somebody will help me with this spoon. It has a high copper content, looks almost copper when put with normal sterling silver and only weighs 30G it's very light for a table spoon.
It has pinprick initials on the front 'F.H.D' and below 'J.F.W' in scipt. on the back it is inscribed 'H.Erich 1803 HF'

There is only one stamped mark that I can't really make out.

Hope somebody can shed light on this one, thanks in advance.

Hi!

Can't find anything on that hallmark in Denmark or Sweden. It's a wedding spoon. "IHD" = the brides monogram poss Ingrid Hansdotter, and ITW the grooms monogram. The letter W is very seldom used in surnames in Scandianvia. My guess is German, close to Danish border.
Best,
Thomas

Forgot: I and J was the same letter in Scandinavia up to mid 1800s.
