probably danish sugar tongs from 1784

Postby R ingo » Sun May 24, 2015 6:33 pm

Hello, I have a sugar tongs (or coal tongs reference to H. Stierling) with the double makers mark "MF". It is dated 1784 and later 1825.
I think it was made in Denmark, but I did not found the mark in the Bøje books.

Has someone an idea about the maker?

Best regards, Ringo

As very well known, there are a lot of unregistered Danish masters.... Anyway, I dare to guess without any commitment that it could be Mikael Morgensen Fought 1782-1814 in Copenhagen, but as i said, a pure speculation because Fought's mark has some similarities with this mark.

Hello Qrt.S,
I thank you for the information.
Indeet you are right. The mark from Michael Morgensen Foght has some similarities.

Best regards,
Ringo
