Swedish Carboot Trove!

Hello,

I bought a cheap box of silver plate cutlery (many of which are very nice) at a carboot but I have singled out seven spoons which I believe to be silver and Swedish! I wonder if anyone can help with identification of the makers of these spoons? I have done some research (which I provide below - please feel free to correct anything I've got wrong!) but the maker's marks don't seem to be on any websites I've been on.

Six spoons from Uppsala:
To the back of the stem is MG AB (the A and B are conjoined) (then a gothic letter) U (the city mark for Uppsala) (then three crowns in a trefoil (the national mark of Sweden prior and up to 1912 — after 1912 the three crowns appear in an oval), (then) S (for the Swedish silver standard) (and then) 09 (on three of the spoons, which is the date letter for 1969) (and then) X8 (on the other three spoons, which is the date letter for 1948). Can these six spoons be a set even with the disparity in date letters? I ask this as the maker's marks are all the same on each spoon.

Thanks for any help,

Greg.

Here are the links to thepictures (I can't work out how to actually put the pictures in my actual post!):

First of all take new sharp close-up pictures of the marks and crop them to the marks only without any useless information containig surroundings.

Kindly read this: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10

and now:
1. O4 is 1964 not 1969
2. The cat's paw with three crows is still in use since 1754 as the official control mark for not less than 830/1000 silver
3. Three crowns on an oval shield is the Swedish import mark for silver used 1913 to 1988 meaning imported goods!
4. MGAB is is the maker's mark for K. G. Markström's Guldsmeds AB in Uppsala
-AB stands for "Aktiebolag" for "ltd/limited/joint-stock company"
5. Of course six similar spoons with differing date marks (and even maker's marks) are considered as a set.
6. It is not GWRE but GEWE being the maker's mark for GEWE (Georg Wessfelt) Silvervarufabrik in Malmö 1939-1984 and O8 is 1940

What's left?

Thanks ever so much Qrt.S for the swift info! I'll amend my records and try to to do more research. I'll also try to sort out my picture posting skills!

You're welcome. The spoon model in the last picture is called "svensk spets" i.e. Swedish "edge". Why didn't you show pictures like this in the first place...???

I think I sent the inferior pictures firstly in reduced resolutions as the originals were very big files. However I soon realised that the Silver Forum wouldn't be hosting the pictures so it dawned on me to provide the better quality ones. I'm getting there! It would be great to post the actual pictures in the actual text of the post, like others seem to be able to do, and I'm going to try and research this.

Thanks : )
