Face sticking out tongue spoon Denmark?

Postby Aguest » Wed Feb 26, 2014 1:32 pm

The artist who made this spoon was extremely talented.

There is a face on the end of the spoon, and another extremely tiny face where the bowl meets the shaft.

The marks are "A.M. 830S" and in has been engraved "Nancy 1916."

I get an arts & crafts feeling from the marks, but the spoon's design seems to point toward a high artistry.

Actually I am not even sure that this spoon is from Denmark.

It does remind me of the wooden face carvings in certain Danish shipping ports.

I have seen a few Danish commemorative spoons that celebrated these face carvings, so I just assumed this is from Denmark?

I think that the spoon is Norwegian, made by August Midling in Harstad (north in Norway) 1879 - 1962.
