Who made this luktevannshus?

Postby Zolotnik » Sun Sep 23, 2012 8:20 am

Hi all -
"captured" this interesting luktevannshus but are not sure who the maker could be.
1) Hendrik Boldeus 1733-1810 or 2) Hans Jacob Forbech 1756-1832
Maybe someone could help.

This one is difficult - I read 29 and that is sopposed to be 1829.
Where have you bought this?
If we assume Norway the 29 makes sence.

But I am ni Denmark the HB is similar to Hans Bush - to introduce a third posibility.
Hans Bush born approx 1729 works in Odense and Aalborg before he gets citienship in Aalborg april 26th 1766. Dies 1803 vidow continues and dies 1807.
In this case - we are in rococo - and the shell could be therefrom.
But also the 29 - could it be something else?

Hello Zolotnik,
I have a suggestion: What about Norway, Drammen and Henrik Boldeus, born 4.7.1733 and became master 1780. He died 8.11.1810. The rococo style also fits the period.

That was my suggestion, it is more a HB than a HF - but what is the 29?

Anyway - thank you very much Hose_dk and Qrt.S

Aalborg is not in Sønderjylland.
But in Sønderjylland they had their own lødighed
20 = 9-10 lødigt
22 = 10 -11 lødigt
24 = 11-12 lødigt
26 = 12-13 lødigt
etc.

I wonder if the only used even numbers? or did they use 29?

If Norway 29 = 1829 and thereby a master alive in 1829.

Hmmmmm! I have the same book and I saw this Master and some others too but the missing Copenhagen's three tower city mark made me hesitate and suggest a Norwegian master. If your article is Danish it could as well be made by Hans Bruun #3190 , Hinrich Breundle # 1399, Hans Busch # 1489 etc., or ? The missing town mark indicates more Norway, but it is my opinion only.

Hi Qrt.S -

I am quite new to Luktevannshus or Hovedvandsaeg - they are either from Northern Germany, Danmark or Norway. On the ones from Denmark I have seen in literature or museums or own, I never have seen the three towers.
Maybe Hose_dk can shed some light...

I have that book. Its the first edition of Boye. In my edition several marks have been mooved from one master to another. Due to new knowledge.
My opinion is still the one master in my first post - secondly Norway master.

The 29 - still puzzels - natural choise is Norway 1829. Most likely meening of 29.
