Hello, dear Sirs!

Help me please to identify the silversmith. These wine glasses are made in 1949.

Regards,
Elena Russ

Kindly tell me what makes you think they are made in 1949 (Y8), the year mark is quite lousy (Y?)? Anyway, most likely the maker is K&E Carlsson in Göteborg in Sweden but the year mark bothers me....1949??? Carlsson marked 1918-1948 according to my sources. It could also be CESON Guldvaru Ab, but then the year mark is something else and a later one.... Y9 i.e. 1973?

Hello, dear Qrt.S.

I am sure that mark is «Y8», because it is seen well on the others vine glasses.
Qrt.S, could you please let me know which resource you use to identify the Swedish silver marks.
Thank you in advance.

Elena Russ.

Well Elena, it is a bit difficult to answer your question because it depends on the age of the object in question. Anyway the usual ones are Svenskt silversmide 1520-1850 and 1850-1912 etc.. If we the object is younger I try SWEDAC i. e. http://stamps.swedac.se/index_ie.asp?sLang=en . But please remember to "clear page" before you enter new information.
