SAndinavian spoon??

Postby fishnfowl » Thu Jan 13, 2011 5:14 pm

Before I ask yet another question...I can't thank the members of this forum enough for helping me identify my spoons. Hubby wanted to sell them all for scrap which got me into researching them. Thanks so much!
Guessing this is Scandinavian because of the 3 crown mark. Any ideas?

Hi, yes many ideas :-))))
Your silver spoon is made in Sweden in Stockholm in 1845. The maker is Per Isaac Chergée and he marked 1833-1847. The model or pattern is called "Gammal fransk" meaning Old French. This is actually funny because the pattern is also used in France and there it is called "Swedish Model or Palmes Suédois". The ordinary purity 830/1000 is indicated by the official control mark the three crowns also called the cat's paw. The town you can see from the third mark from left. It shows St Erik the Saint of Stockholm. P4 indicates the year being 1845.

That's about all, have a nice day
