I have this 1844 teaspoon from Trondheim, Norway it has superb marks. I wonder if anyone can tell me who is ECT the maker? The month mark too would be great to know. It’s also dot pricked ‘CTDB 1844 EW’
Apologies for the poor images but daylight is a bit scarce up here in the Arctic, normal service resumes in a few months!
Thanks,
Matt.
Trondheim 1844 spoon, who is ECT?
Re: Trondheim 1844 spoon, who is ECT?
??? Mind my asking, where are you? I thought I was up in the "north".mk209 wrote:Apologies for the poor images but daylight is a bit scarce up here in the Arctic,
Anyway, very nice and clear marks. ECT is Elias Christian Thyholdt, born 1806 and master 4.9.1832. He died 25.7.1849.
The Gothic M with (18)44 mark below Trondheim's town crest, the flower, is the guardein (assayer's) mark for Knud S. Möller 1842-1863 also in Trondheim.
The month mark is number 6 for June (not often seen).
13½ is the fineness in lot i.e. 843/1000. CTDB1844 EW is the owner's markings. No idea what it means.

Great info many thanks. I got the spoon from the US as much Norwegian silver ended up over there with emigration.
I’m at 68’ North :-)
