Nice Quality cups ,appear to be Russian

Post by gsmoggy »

Hi Members

Have seen these very fine quality cloisonne cups ,that look to be very good quality,

I felt they were interesting to post ,as if original ? would be good for members reference comparing to fakes.

Would be interested what members think about them?

Regards Guido.

Hi,
Unfortunately, images are too bad for any judgment.
Blurred marks are maker's and post 1908 Delta Moscow Kokoshnik.

Hi AG

sorry about blurry images ,took them in a hurry while viewing auction.
The letters are MC in oval said to be for Maria Semenova ,Moscow 1908-1917.

Some other images from catalogue .hopefully better.

M.Semenova mark in PL # 2681 is completely different. On the other hand, the mark MC in an oval is often attributed to her factory, although there is not full consensus on Russian forums.
With so many fakes of Russian silver, it is better to collect something else.
There is a saying:
Half from Russia are lucky, and the other half are buying.
Foreigners are not far behind, either ..
Половина из России везет , а другая половина покупает.
Иностранцы тоже не отстают..

Hi Ag
Thanks for your comments ,as I said I will not be bidding on them,I posted them for the interest of members,as you say and as I have read before on this forum buying Russian items seems to be a minefield for the inexperienced (and maybe experienced)collectors.
I am not sure with my lack of expertise how original they are, always in collecting when I see two of something good,I always have a question mark(I maybe wrong)

Will be interesting what others think. They have a large estimate ,(sorry I did not realize I was not supposed post the estimate,in previous post)

Regards Guido.

Hello
I forgot to mention in previous post,as a novice of this work ,is the repartision of the two top border patterns standard and seen in her work?

Hi!

I'm afraid to upset you, but at first glance, the punches do not look original. Cloisonne enamel is being successfully replicated right now. Give a good photo of the punches on both cups.
AG, do not be upset, but this is my experience.

When I claimed OK, I was referring only to the question in regard of the border pattern, nothing more than that:
is the repartition of the two top border patterns standard and seen in her work?
If I understood well, the question was about more complicated border double pattern like one bellow, but of course, easily reproduced and faked, too.
