Hi,
I have been asked some more information about this Russian silver naturalistic tea spoon. АП We believe it to be the maker’s mark of Andrey Postnikov's factory. Are we right to assume the assayers initials to be of Ivan Sergeyevich Lebedkin, duty in Moscow, 1898-1914

Hi Peter,
Yes, the assayer is Ivan Lebedkin in Moscow 1898-1914, no question about that. But is it Andrey Postnikov's factory (1868-1917) or not, is a bit trickier question. Most likely it is Postnikov, but there are a few unlikely alternatives. Anyway, I would still say it is Postnikov. The spoon is made between 1899 and 1914.

Forgot to mention that Postnikov was awarded the Court Supplier title in 1877. It gave him the right to use the Double-Headed Eagle mark. There is none here, but there is actually not enough space for it either, so maybe he didn't punch it, who knows? This is after all a spoon only.

Firm of Postnikov
Moskow

Founded in 1868 by Andrey Postnikov, owner of a factory producing gold,
silver and bronze articles.
In 1870 the factory employed 63 craftsmen.
The annual turnover amounted to 250.000 rubles.
Form 1870 the firm took part in All-Russian and world art and industrial
exhibitions, and won prices.
From 1877 the firm had the title of Court Supplier an the right to include the
imperial double headed Eagle in its trade-mark.
The firm produced mainly plates and dishes as well as church objects and
was famous for its filigree silverware.
In 1917 the firm ceased to exist.
