Moscow makers mark?

So help would be needed.



So I think that the assay master is quite clear ( Romanov / Moscow / 1886-94 ).
But the makers mark...if I am correct it would point to the direction of the Sazikov company (, not Saltykov ). But since the podstakannik is marked in 1889 and the Sazikov company sold to the Khlebnikov company in 1887, I find here a bit of a dilemma. So some help would be appreciated here if you please.
( Also if someone would have knowledge of the meanings of the writings on the sides, I would be thankful also.)

I believe this is the famous Moscow owner of the workshop Ivan Saltykov. The inscription means "Drink to health" ("ПЕЙТЕ НА ЗДОРОВЬЕ").

Hi -

in my opinion it could not be Saltykov:
1) the shown mark differs completely from the known marks
2) the shown style and quality of the object is much to simple for Saltykov

Could one possibility be that the Khlebnikov company kept Sazikov hallmarks in use for some time?
Like for the transition period, for example the 2 years from 1887 till 1889?

Please compare the 3 marks:

your mark (unknown maker)

the two letters separated by a dot, a cartouche with cut corners

Saltykov´s mark

no dot, different cartouche!

Sazikov´s mark


The unambiguous assignment of an object is made by the marks as well as by the quality - both must match!

Igor Saltykov/Moscow was a wellknown maker of silver and enamel of very good quality. His mark is often intentionally confused with the mark of Sazikov....In my opinion your quality tea glass holder is from him.

...and the Moscow maker's mark I.S in cyrillic was Sazikov.
...but not anymore?

Hi Atlas -

I always try to help the rookies, I was once myself a rookie! But I expect seriousness and the will to use his mind ......
I always post as much photos as possible to visually back up what I write. When I use words like "cartouche" which you apparent do not know or understand - Google can help!
You should compare the posted marks - that is the reason why I post them!
If they are not identic - than they are different! If you do not see a difference - speak with an optician!
After showing the differences of the marks - one always have a look at the quality.
Different makers worked in different qualities! Famous - not so famous - unknown. Can you follow?

The tea glass holder you mention above bears correct marks, is of adequat quality = is probably made by Saltykov.
The tea glass holder you show bears unknown, total different marks in a total different cartouche, is of low quality = a "noname".
If you find all this somewhat confusing than you should look for a different activity.

Instead of asking questions until you understand it - you become sarcastic.
It is not my fault that you bought the wrong teaglass holder - assuming it is a Sazikov object.
It was your ignorance! If you see that - then you're ready to learn.
