Need help with Russian maker's mark

Who recognises this Russian maker's mark? I believe it says DAP in cyrillic script.

The gilt silver box is also marked with these marks:

St George mark for Moscow does not look right by itself and particularly if the year is 1844.
There should be marks both on the lid and the box (two sets). They cannot be this blurred in both places. Can you show us both sets of marks, please?

Hmmmm... still an interesting "case". Kindly tell us what initials are above the year 1844. However, we have seen this mark before and assumed that it would be Dimitry Aleksandrovitch Polyakov, active in his workshop on Sretinskaya district, 1st block, 49 in Moscow around 1852. Goldsmith and merchant of the 3rd order.

Unfortunately the initials above 1844 (I assume) are not readable.

I am with AG2012 - the St. George is wrong for the year 1844 (and too sketchy) and it looks as if the thumbpiece was added later to make the box look more Russian than European.

Besides,the figure of St George is either in contact or well off the outer curved line of the mark.
In every genuine mark St George`s figure is at almost perfectly equal distance from the outer line of the mark.

Normal St. George, but punch is polluted.
Polyakov is maker.

OK The mark is polluted.Now we need the proof this type of St George mark was used as late as 1844.
