I bit strange marking but I would say that it is most likely from Transkaukasia (Tiflis) in Russia because the assayer seems to be Schmidetskij, Iosif Aleksandrovitch. He assayed there 1897-1908. This kokoshnik mark was used 1899-1908, so now you have it dated. However, I miss the maker's mark....

Yes, I saw that mark but there is a big discrepancy. Mark #3679's maker is unknown to name. His working period was 1804-1832. The assay mark on your object was used 1899-1908. The difference in years is too big, but...???

No, Schmidetskij is only the assayer, an authority/official who tests and guarantees the legal fineness. That is all. He has nothing to do with the manufacturing or repairing of any object.

The only explanation I can think of is that the object for reasons unknown would have been assayed much later....... I don't think some but again? The mark has some similarities with #3679 but, but...?

You are not giving any measures but it looks like bottle of some kind.

Hi.

I think, it is possible. The small square punch is the punch for items which are put up for sale from a pawnshop (from 1899-1908). Items without hallmarks were tested in assay office before sale. It is a compulsory procedure. After test in assay office were punches the oval mark and the square (pawnshop) mark.

Gentlemen,

Was reviewing this post, there appears to be an older mark that the kokoshnik mark is overlapping. Look below the 8 and the 4, are those two very shallow Cyrillic letters?
