russian spoon.

Postby huszas76 » Tue Jun 18, 2013 7:42 am

Hi all!
A friend of mine send me a picture about russian hallmarks in a spoon. I think, it's from Odessa, And maybe Timofej Kopenev. But I'm unsure, because in the source he worked 1894-97, and in the spoon the date is 1893.
And I would really appreciate, if someone tell me, who is the maker.

Sorry for the quality, I think, he made with phone.
Thank you any help!
Regards!

Please keep in mind that silver marks is not an absolute science especially regarding Russian marks. As known lots of documents have been destroyed.

The town in both spoons is Odessa without any doubts. The assayer TK is most likely Timofey Kopanev irrespective of the mismatch of two years. Probably he worked in Odessa already in 1892?

The assayer I·Ш on Zolotnik's spoon could be Iosif Aleksandrovitch Schmidetsky. He worked in Tiflis, Baku and Transkaukasia approximately at that time.

The maker is a complete mystery to me too ?????

Yes. All right. Assay masters are Timofey Maksimovich Kopanev and Iosif Aleksandrovitch Schmidetsky. Schmidetsky become the Head of Tiflis's assay office since 1893.
