I find this piece suspicious based on this:
1.The mark is not well struck and almost every letter in К.Фаберже is not what we except from Faberge
2.The circular mark like this would not leave any serious assay office.Let`s have in mind even in provincial towns silversmiths were fined for poorly struck maker`s mark (I happen to have records of an event in early 19th century).``84`` does not look genuine, either.
3.Silver rim is not very well executed (red arrow to the rim). This is not what we expect from Faberge.Well,it is over 100 years old, one may say;but it was protected by the outer rim all the time and could not sustain any natural wear.Besides, punching marks does not bend silver.
Having seen ``the exact same item on an auction site in Florida here`` does not prove anything, really. On contrary;fairy tales do happen, but I would rather live in reality.

Pictures are small, though, and not very informative.
This is very important:
A.How is the supporting ring of silver fixed to the rim? Whatever method is used it may tell us much about the craftsmanship.Show us,please.
B. How is the cut glass executed? Is its rim wheel polished and how?
In short, everything should be perfectly done.Unfortunately, not perfect so far.

Hi andrewdoubleu -

as AG2012 already stated: this object has nothing to do with what we know as "Fabergé" - it is one of the countless phantasy fakes circulating worldwide, made to cheat the unknowing - an object for the waste bin!

Eagerly waiting for additional photos; although very, very improbable they might change our opinion. Very interested in the way the cut glass was fixed to the rim.

Hi all -
what I always say: beware of famous auction houses! The best "Fauxbergé" marks we lately saw on this forum - and we see a lot of this dust bin objects....

I share AG2012's and Zolotnik's opinions in full. It is a spurious object. What comes to auction houses famous or not their only intention is to sell and make profit. Of all "Fabegé" produced objects on the market today are at the most 10% genuine...if even that.

I thought there was no need to comment the particular item any more. But,as already pointed out above, this was the most obvious fake we have seen lately, both regarding marks and craftsmanship.I insisted on the fact how the circular supporting plate was fixed to the rim but we never had additional pictures (understandable if submitted for auction in the meantime, although I would take it with a grain of salt). This is serious and has already happened on a much larger scale - you may remember the affair;Faberge imperial egg sold in Switzerland and then the owner wanted to sell it after a few years with the same auction house in New York (one of two giant auction houses). But it was declared a fake and a long court trial followed, hundreds of thousands $ spent and the owner lost based on the decision ``the expert had the right of wrong attribution because it was his (expert`s) subjective opinion`` or something like that.
If I had this piece I would check if it is silver-plated in the first place.
