Faberge?

Postby Silbersammler » Sat Feb 05, 2011 4:05 pm

Hi,
again I bet your help:
is this cigarette case really faberge? The hallmarks on both sides are different, that I don`t like. The saphire is genuine, this i have tested.
Sorry for the bad pics, no daylight.
Thanks for your help and kind regards
Steffen

Good evening Steffen,
First off I will tell you that I am pleased that I was able to translate your username into English... :) Being 1/4 German has paid off afterall!
The marks would suggest August Hollming, St Petersburg, 1899-1908 but... are these the only two sets of hallmarks on the box? If so, then the outlook is not looking positive... There should also be a hallmark on the inside of the very small hinged lid. Do let us know.
Regards,
Piette

Hi Piette,
so we soon can start to discuss in germany? (my english is not good :-))
You are right, there is a very small mark in small hinged lid, I will take a photo with daylight and show it later (we still have night),
Thanks and have a nice day
kind regards
Steffen

Hi!

This is one more example of a marking that is not authentic Fabergé, we have seen these on this forum. None of the marks look correct, the cigarette case is most probably from early 20th century from a northern European country (but not Russia).

Juke

Hi Juke,
thank you for our kind answer, you confirm my fears.
I took a photo of the mark in small hinged lid. It is very small, I can`t read it, but it is not 88 nor AH nor Faberge.

After reading here for month, I have my doubts that it is really faberge ..... the next hope is dead to get the first genuine faberge, but one day I will find one :-)
Have a nice sonday und thanks a lot for the quick help.
Kind regards
Steffen
