Unknown purpose

Hi all -
found a bowl (H 13 cm, D 21 cm) with 3 ballfeet an 3 handles. Moscow 1908-17, 5th Artel. All parts orderly marked. What was the original use of this object? I use it for flowers :-)












Maybe the experts have an answer.

The outlook resembles a casserole made of cast iron and to hang in a chain over the open fire. It is very stylish and maybe meant for flowers or an ornament in general to put on the mantel piece to symbolize "the good old days" when they had an open fire stove in an old farmhouse's living-room. It could also be a confectionery bowl, well maybe it is a bit too big for that.

Nice object anyway. You don't see such every day, do you.

In English, the form is termed a cauldron, most notable use was made by the three witches of Macbeth.
"Double, double toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble... etc. etc."

Sir Christopher Dresser designed a tea set in a cauldron motif ca.1880, believe this may be the sugar bowl here.
