Good photos. Who the guy on the picture is, I don't know. Anyway, the frame is made in Moscow between 1908-1926. Unfortunately the maker (ФЛ latin FL) seems to be unknown i my books, maybe someone else know him.

Hi -

I am sorry to bring the bad news: the maker should read like FL Fedor Lorie, but the the punches (both) are wrong (wrong place), this is a contemporary piece (to discribe it polite)!

Hope this helps

Interesting statement from Postinikov. I will not argue whether it is genuine or not, but according to the respective assay charter, the marks on an oval or quadrangular frame with a singular photo should be on the frame. Aren't the marks on frame or where are they and/or where should they be? Ther size of the assay mark is 4 x2 mm, kindly measure it.

Nevertheless, Fyodor Anatolievich Lorie did not mark his items with only ФЛ his marks were the following: ЛОРIЕ or Ф.А. ЛОРIЕ or Ф. ЛОРIЕ (yes with a Latin I not И!) or even ЕЧ. If this is taking in consideration Postinikov might be quite right in his statement. But is it then Lorie on the whole, is another good question.
