Jewels Jewels, Elsa Triolet Jewels and Works from the Dieppe Museum Collection

Between 1929 and 1932, Elsa Triolet, a Russian-born writer, made jewelry for haute couture. These jewels, mainly necklaces, are made of cotton, mother-of-pearl, leather and pearls; materials sublimated by the technical inventiveness and stylistic audacity of this artist with multiple influences (African art, surrealism, decorative arts ...). This fresh look at the profession of jewelery and freshness at the time attracted many great couturiers - Paul Poiret, Madeleine Vionnet, Edward Molyneux or Elsa Schiaparelli, rising star of Parisian fashion - as well as a rich clientele, American in particular. His companion, Louis Aragon follows the waltz of orders, demarcating himself with a suitcase with drawers. The adventure lasts four years. Elsa Triolet tells it in her novel "Colliers". Man Ray has immortalized some of the creations. The jewels of Elsa Triolet, bequeathed by Aragon to the city of Saint Étienne du Rouvray, were highlighted in our region during an exhibition at the Museum of Evreux in 2015. Presented in Dieppe they will be accompanied by jewelery and graphic works from the museum's collections. In order to discover the universe of this unknown artist, a program of animations, workshops, visits and conferences will accompany this exhibition.
