Gioielli d’artista: la tradizione nella modernità

Until 15th October 2014

The exhibition Jewels of the artist: the tradition in modernity, documents the activities of those artists engaged in technical research in contemporary art, and feel the need to refer to the identity of the Italian tradition to reaffirm with force a style, in the sign of harmony , the measure, the taste and beauty that for centuries have identified our national reality in constant relationship between memory and modernity. exposure will be dedicated to those artists who turn their attention to the jewel sometimes understood as a sculpture to wear or how expression of pictorial or sculptural representation: unique expression that expresses a continuous search for the secret of beauty, sensitivity of form and innovation. Among these, we have Igor Mitoraj, Ivan Theimer, Roberto Barni and Cordelia von den Steinen, sculptors of international renown already present with their jewelery in our museums. The small size, in gold, silver or metal, holds equally all the problems and the commitments of the artist's poetic processing with passionate and fascinating experimenting with new combinations of colors, materials and techniques. Jewels of excellence not large, but equally able to reflect the continuing challenges of the authors, will be joined in their paintings and sculptures to express a concept of preciousness: Is there anything more beautiful gold color or brightness of a precious stone, of the divine beauty of white Carrara marble and shiny or silky surface of a bronze, a glazed earthenware? Some artists exchanging ideas and technical skills have joined in creating works absolutely original painters and goldsmiths, sculptors and goldsmiths, potters and goldsmiths have created beautiful brooches, necklaces and pendants in synergistic harmony. exhibition also has a section of jewelery artists who were trained in the prestigious Florentine schools Liceo Artistico di Porta Romana (formerly Institute of Art) and The Arts Goldsmith and here are gathered in a special corpus dedicated entirely to the form as a sanction the continuity and development of skills and processes in continuous evolution. Jewellery and works at the Horne Museum section of the exhibition held at the Museo Horne proposes methods already tested in previous events in the museum: the jewels and the works granted by the artists and selected by the curators are on display in the museum next to the ancient furniture and the paintings and sculptures that form the art collection of Herbert Horne. These approaches emphasize what has already been expressed by the title of the exhibition (Jewelry Artist. Tradition in modernity), allowing, for example, to the great bronze horse Ivan Theimer to communicate with the horse in clay by Jacopo Sansovino, and the jewels of Igor Mitoraj and Cordelia von den Steinen to deal with the tiaras of the fourteenth century Madonnas and the surface of the table with golden Santo Stefano di Giotto. Serving unusual and sometimes provocative, however, made to throw light on both the new and different experiences of contemporary both on the same ancient works. Involvement of the Museo Horne in the exposition, however, even more meanings. Tradition and modernity have been two periods within which can be enclosed in the same figure of Herbert Horne, both as a collector and as an architect and designer. The artists who exhibit in the museum are, like Horne, foreigners and, as Horne, have looked to Italian art and engaging with sensitive spirit, choosing in each case the Tuscany as a place of life and work: Do König Vassilakis (from Germany in Lucca), Florence Lopez (from Paris to Florence), Igor Mitoraj (from Poland in Pietrasanta), Ivan Theimer (from Slovakia in Pietrasanta), Cordelia von den Steiner (from Switzerland to Fivizzano). artists featured in the show: Stefano Alinari, Ornella Aprosio, Daniela Banci, Marzia Banci, Roberto Barni, Beatrice Lisa, Leonardo Bossio Carolina Bucci, Angela Caputi, Alessandro Dari, Angela De Weddle, Do König Vassilakis, Arata Fuchi, Danilo Fusi, Marco Garezzini, Florence Lopez, Igor Mitoraj , Orlandini, Paolo Penko, Jordan Pines, Claudio Ranfagni, Paola Staccioli, Paul Staccioli, Ivan Theimer, Tomaso Tommasi, Cordelia von den Steinen, Negar Azhar Azari, Andrea Giunti, Geneva Landi, Chiara Stores, Simone Renai, Viola Tagliavini.
