THE ESTERHÃZY PRINCES: MAGNATES, PATRONS OF ART, WARRIORS AND DIPLOMATS

The Moscow Kremlin Museums present an exhibition of remarkable treasures from the Esterházy collection. Historical relics and artworks of the XVIth – XXth centuries, related to the most powerful and distinguished European noble families, are introduced to the Russian public for the first time.
Numerous masterpieces of high artistic and historical value are to be brought together from the Esterházy Foundation, cabinet of curiosities, arsenal of the Forchtenstein Castle and the palace in Eisenstadt.
The exposition includes exquisite arms and armour, Turkish and Prussian trophies, ammunition of the Esterházy private army and uniform of military leaders, family relics, jewelry, watches, dresses, portraits of the Esterházy princes. The project also incorporates items from the European largest and oldest Silver Room of Paul Esterházy.
Special attention will be given to the diplomatic activity of the Esterházy family, some members of which were ambassadors at the court of Russian emperors. The display will include the highest state decorations they received for their service.
