The Corieltavi Silver Bowl
Tuesday 3rd May to Saturday 16th July 2011
A beautiful 2,000 year old Iron Age silver bowl is the highlight of this enlightening and fascinating exhibition. The earliest known example to have been hand-made in Britain, the bowl provides new evidence on the tradition of the ancient Celtic silversmith, a tradition previously unrecognised. The bowl, together with Celtic and Roman coins and other extraordinary artefacts comes from the Hallaton Treasure, described by the British Museum as “a find of national significance”. The pieces have been loaned for the exhibition by the Harborough Museum in Leicestershire and have never been on display in London before.
Admission: Free
