Art Nouveau tray EP NS 1/0 as

I have a lovely old art nouveau tray with the letters EP NS I/O as - I think it is silver-plate or possible pewter? Did the arts and crafts designers of the 1900s work with pewter? I am trying to upload a picture but not having much luck.
