The Whiting & Davis Co. is announcing to the trade that foreign-made copies of the W. & D. mesh bags are being sold and that suit has been begun against jewelers who advertise these copied designs as the Plainville product. A general investigation throughout the country is being made by the firm.

Thomas Henry Rammell, of Plainville, has been granted a patent on a bag clasp which he has assigned to the Whiting & Davis Co., of Plainville.

Whiting & Davis, manufacturers of sterling silver novelties, Plainville, Mass., and 12-16 John St., New York, have just received a letter from their London connection, stating that the new Queen of England, Alexandra, has set the fashion of wearing a snake necklace. The correspondent urges Whiting & Davis to send at once a quantity of their “Alice Nielsen” serpent necklaces and bracelets, as he anticipates a large sale for them in England.

The fair held last week by the Whiting & Davis Relief Association in the Plainville Town Hall was a big success and a tidy sum was realized for the association. Charles A. Whiting generously gave the association a dollar for every dollar netted by the fair, the association thus securing about $600.

The hospital at the factory of the Whiting & Davis Co. is being enlarged in order to accommodate a dentist who will spend one day at the factory each week.

A telegraph instrument was installed, with an operator in attendance, in the recreation building at the Whiting & Davis Co.’s plant, on election night, and a considerable number availed themselves of the opportunity of learning the results. Open house was maintained the entire evening.

The Whiting & Davis Co. had one of its displays of mesh bags and mesh manufacturing machines as a feature at the opening of A. D. Thuotte’s new retail jewelry store at Arctic, R. I., last week.
