The sterling silver loving cup presented by the citizens of St. Louis to Edmond Creecy, retiring Chief of Police, was made by the Hess & Culbertson Jewelry Co., and was a very handsome piece of workmanship. This firm also provided the second and third prizes for the annual marathon race of the Missouri Athletic Club.

Leo J. Vogt, president of the Hess & Culbertson Jewelry Co., 9th and Olive Sts., is leaving next week to join his family in Estes Park, Colo. They left this week to tour and he will follow by rail and plans to spend about three weeks in the Rocky Mountain region, seeing all the principal points of interest.

Oliver Selle, head of the Selle Jewelry Co., in the Arcade building, St. Louis, Mo., has bought out the interests of his former partner, E. A. Wehmueller and will continue the business at the old location. It is planned to incorporate the concern in the near future. Mr. Wehmueller has taken a position with the Hess & Culbertson Jewelry Co.

Leo J. Vogt started with Hess & Culbertson as an errand-boy. He became president of the company in 1926 and continued in that role until his retirement in 1958. He died in 1963 having spent 56 years with the company. He was aged 79 years.

Jim Behen, with the Hess & Culbertson Company, returned last month from a month's trip to the Pacific Northwest, where he visited Seattle, Portland and Spokane. Mr. Behen reports a delightful outing and says that the northwest coast country is enjoying a wonderful expansion and that times are quite prosperous in that section.

The Hess & Culbertson Jewelry Co. has made a contract with the Simpson & Fox Advertising Co. to handle the firm’s advertising. Leonard Woods, who has been the firm’s advertising manager, will remain in another capacity.
