The Right Sort of Policeman
A constable at Leicester, recently seeing a man loitering about the premises of Mr. Winterhalder, Belvoir Street, watched at a distance, until he heard a smash ; he then pounced upon the prisoner and took him into custody. A scuffle ensued, during which time prisoner threw away a quantity of jewelry.

......On Monday also a man named Edwin Hough, manufacturing jeweller, of 12 Mount Street, Nottingham, was found dead in his house, and on the table near him a cup containing cyanide of potassium, evidently taken from a store of it which he kept for cleaning purposes in the course of his trade.

Suicide of a Nottingham Jeweller. Edwin Hough, jeweller and electro-plater, of 12, Mount Street, Nottingham, committed suicide on the 9th ult., by drinking a quantity of cyanide of potassium. Melancholia, owing to depression in business, was the alleged cause of the act.
