Miss Marion Gregg, whose marriage to Clarence Hopkins King, vice-president of the Mermod-Jaccard-King Jewelry Co., is set for 5:30 on April 7, at the Christ Church Cathedral will be a post-Lenten event, will have her sister Miss Janet Gregg, as her maid of honor and the bridesmaids will be society girls, one of whom will be from New York, Miss Dorothy Pillot. The wedding will be followed by a small reception at the residence of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil D. Gregg. Mr. King will take his bride to Europe and they will remain abroad indefinitely.

Melville L. Wilkinson, president of the Mermod-Jaccard & King Jewelry Co., accompanied by his wife, left St. Louis Saturday for a two months’ tour of Europe. They will sail on the Mauretania and visit Paris, London, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Czecho-Slovakia and probably Germany. The trip is in the nature of a business expedition for the jewelry firm, as well as two other companies of which he is the president.

A diamond engagement ring valued at $3,000 is on exhibition at the store of the Mermod, Jaccard & King Jewelry Co. It was designed and mounted in the Jaccard factory and is elegantly wrought in an original setting of platinum. In the center of the ring, wought in a delicate lacework design, is set a blue-white diamond, perfectly cut and proportioned. Surrounding it are 22 white diamonds, the smallest it is possible to perfectly cut.

Mermod & Jaccard Jewelry Co. have opened another branch store on Locust St. near Broadway. This was done because their new store will not be completed as soon as expected.

Edward H. Mead, a director of the Mermod, Jaccard & King Jewelry Co., died Wednesday afternoon after an illness of only two weeks. He was 84 years of age and while he had retired from active business for several years he retained his place on the “Jaccard” board and his advice was highly considered. He had been a semi-invalid for more than a year. Mr. Mead was born in Ithaca, N. Y., in 1832, and he came to St. Louis in 1837. In the early years of his life he was junior member of the firm of Edward Mead & Son, jewelers, one of the pioneer firms of St. Louis. He then joined the “Jaccard” staff. The funeral will be held from the residence, 5879 Nina Pl.,Nov. 25. at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Miria Mead, and five children, Edward, Russell, Edith, Lucy and Ferguson. All except the last named live in this city. Ferguson’s home is in Milwaukee.

Harry Doty, formerly with the Eisenstadt Mfg. Co., has resigned his position and gone to New Orleans, La., to engage in the laundry business. His father, who had been a salesman for the Mermod & Jaccard Jewelry Co. for a long time, has also resigned, and will go into business with his son.

Mrs. Schambach, of the registry department of the Mermod, Jaccard & King Jewelry Co., lost her son Sunday, July 22. The funeral was held Tuesday. The employes expressed their sympathy with a large floral offering.

The souvenirs of Prince Henry's visit to St. Louis, presented by Mayor Wells to the Missouri Historical Society, have been on exhibition in the Broadway window of the Mermod & Jaccard Jewelry Co., and the collection has been much admired by those who have viewed it. There are among the mementoes preserved a copy of the address of welcome, menu cards, guests’ seat cards, invitations, and committee badges and names of the reception committee and photographs of the silver casket, containing the address of welcome. The collection is handsomely framed.

This establishment is exclusive both in its appointments and in the choice and exclusive stocks which it contains. Of these latter the company, in its handsomely engraved opening announcement, states: “We particularly wish to impress upon you that since the origin of our establishment in the year 1829, we have been supplying many thousands of families with these wares and are offering to you the benefit of our wide experience.'' The company does an import, repair and manufacturing business. With the beauty of its equipment and the variety of its wares, it makes an interesting addition to the jewelry trade of the city.

H. A. McCleary, a number of years in charge of the diamond department of the Mermod, Jaccard & King Company, of this city, but for the past two years connected with a New York retail house, has returned to St. Louis and accepted the position of manager of the diamond department for the Eisenstadt Company, succeeding Henry Haines, who retires from active business life.
