In 1923 there were 1,505,080 Mah Jongg sets exported from Shanghai, China. Practically all of these came to the United States. Upon learning of this, the Towle Mfg. Co., Newburyport, Mass., made an extensive investigation, showing that Mah Jongg had taken a regular place among American games. The result is Towle is offering its Chinese Chippendale line of sandwich plates, bonbon dishes, cake dishes, ash trays, etc., which are appropriate for prizes and table appointments for the tea or luncheon which is almost universally served at Mah Jongg parties. Unique window and counter cards in color have been sent to the trade announcing the Chinese Chippendale line, and its connection with Mah Jongg, enabling the jeweler to make an interesting display. Practically every magazine is carrying articles on Mah Jongg functions, and all goods which have a Chinese atmosphere are profiting. By taking advantage of this trend, the jeweler can draw into his store some of the great numbers of new enthusiasts who are taking up Mah Jongg. The Towle Chinese Chippendale line offers gifts that are most appropriate for the occasion. They are useful gifts that last, gifts which are actually used in connection with the game.

The 'Lady Diana' pattern has a soft platinum finish and is either plain or chased.

The plant of the A. F. Towle & Son Co., Greenfield, Mass., has not been sold as yet, but negotiations are said to be pending from which a favorable outcome is expected. It is reported from Springfield, Mass., that representatives of R. H. White Co. and Jordan, Marsh & Co., of Boston, have been negotiating for the stock of the A. F. Towle & Son Co.’s silver works.

CHICAGO
F. M. Drummond, credit man for the Towle Mfg. Co., was held up and robbed, last Wednesday, at 11.30 p.m., in front of his residence, 443 Dearborn Ave., by three young bandits. With one revolver held at his stomach and another at his head. Mr. Drummond was separated from $58 in cash, a gold watch and chain valued at $70 and a pearl scarf pin. The police have arrested a man named Riordan, who is suspected of being one of the robbers.

E.B. Towle Withdraws from the A.F. Towle & Son Company
Greenfield, Mass., Aug 21, - E.B. Towle has withdrawn from the A.F. Towle & Son Company. When the company moved from Newburyport to Greenfield A.F. Towle was vice president and E.B. Towle was treasurer of the corporation.
A.F. Towle retired from the business two years ago. E.B. Towle was succeeded as treasurer by R.N. Oakman, and a year ago elected vice president. He was formerly superintendent of the factory, but as vice president he was not in charge of the works. Recently the office of vice president was abolished. Mr. Towle expects to establish a business elsewhere.
