William Leonard Pitkin and his brother, Horace Edward Pitkin, closed their business in 1894, disposing of their machinery to the Eagle Sterling Co. of Glastonbury. Both brothers soon after become associated with the Glastonbury firm.

A PRESENTATION TO LADY JELLICOE: H.M.S. “ IRON DUKE.” A beautiful silver model of H.M.S. ” Iron Duke” has been presented to Lady Jellicoe by the Chief of Staff, Captain of the Reef, Flag Captain, Officers and Ship's Company of H.M.S. " Iron Duke,” flag-ship of Admiral Sir John Jellicoe. G.C.B, O.M., G.C.V.O., Commander-in-Chief of the Grand Fleet, 1914-16, in commemoration of the Battle of Jutland, May 31, 1916, in which the German High Sea Fleet was routed and driven into port. This beautiful souvenir is on view to the public in the windows of the Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Company, Ltd., 112, Regent Street, W.Source:

THE MOST WONDERFUL OPAL IN THE WORLD
A black opal weighing 233 carats found by an Australian digger, who named it the "Light of the World ," has been sent to some London, England, diamond merchants, who possess another great Opal, known as the "Great Pandora ," which is twice the size of the "Light of the World," but only half the quality and value. In the above photo one gains the comparative sizes of the opals, on the left is the "Light of the World," in center is a half crown, and on right is the "Great Pandora."Source:
