The Centennial International Exhibition - Philadelphia - 1876

By far the most varied and valuable contribution to the Centennial Exhibition is that made by Elkington, & Co., manufacturing silversmiths, of London, Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham. When it is stated that the value of the exhibits in their court, forty feet square, is over five hundred thousand dollars, some idea can be gleaned of the richness of this display, and of the artistic value represented by each piece which goes to make up this vast sum. The dexterity, the judgment, the self-control which are required to produce such exquisite results must be of the highest order, and can be acquired only by long practice. One false blow might ruin the work of months.

REPRODUCTIONS OF RUSSIAN ANTIQUITIES

Twelve large packing-cases arrived in this city on Thursday from London and were taken to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They contained the reproductions of the Russian antiquities, the originals of which are in the Imperial Museum of St. Petersburg. The reproductions were made by the Messrs. Elkington, of London, with the consent of the Czar.

NUREMBURG INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION OF GOLD AND SILVERSMITHS' WORK, JEWELLERY AND BRONZES - 1885

It is somewhat to be regretted that this Exhibition, which closes this month, has not excited a livelier interest in England than it has done (only one English firm, Messrs. Elkington's, having contributed to it), for it will be a long time before such a quantity of interesting and beautiful metalwork collected from every quarter of the globe will be brought together for exhibition again.
