R.B. HILLMER

Southampton, Ontario


A man from Southampton, Ont., was arraigned before the court at Walkerton recently, on four charges of theft, including the stealing of a large amount of jewelry from the store of R. B. Hillmer, Southampton. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment and is to be deported to England on the expiration of his time.

CHARLES R. FORD

A large part of the business section of Chatham, Ont., was destroyed by fire on the night of Dec. 8, including the jewelry store of Charles R. Ford, who sustained a loss of $20,000.

The store of Clark Bros., Moose Jaw, N. W. T., was looted by burglars Wednesday night. The thieves held up the proprietor with revolvers and obtained $800 worth of gold jewelry.

WILLIAM D. McGLOGHLON

77, Dundas Street, London, Ontario


Last evening a large number of the members of Union Lodge, A. F. & A. M., gathered in the Mosaic Temple to pay a farewell tribute to Right Worthy Bro. W. D. McGloghlon, who is shortly to remove from London, where he has long been engaged in business, and take up hisresidence in the State of Delaware.

Speeches were then made expressive of regret at the departure by Wor. Bros. J. Simpson, W.R. Vining, W. W. Fitzgerald, W. Thornton, J. H. Elliott, E. Burke, D. Sechwaiter, A. B. Munson, O, J. Bridle, N. Dewar, Burns, Strathold and others. The assembly then adjourned to Sare’s restaurant, where an excellent repast was awaiting them, and after administering ample justice the usual patriotic and social toasts were proposed and responded to. To the high honor thus tendered him, Bro. McGloghlon responded in thankful and feeling terms.
