Pairpoint Mfg. Co.

The corporation of the Pairpoint Mfg. Co., manufacturers of electro silver plated ware, decorated Limoges ware and rich cut glass, of New Bedford, Mass., organized in 1880. They have offices in New York, opened in 1881, now managed by W. H. Lum; in Chicago, opened 1887, managed by J. G. Corey; in San Francisco, opened in 1887, managed by W. E. Graves; and in Montreal, opened 1892, Geo. Chillas, manager.

On May 4th, Detective Connelly arrested Wm. Mitchell while trying to dispose of a quantity of silver ware. It was marked Pairpoint Mfg. Co., New Bedford, Mass. The company were notified, and it was learned that a barrelful of silverware had been stolen from an express car which had been shipped to Spokane, Wash. Mitchell claims the stuff was given to him by parties in Toledo, O. It is worth $125, He is charged with grand larceny.

CHICAGO

O. H. Hull, for over 30 years with the Pairpoint Corporation, has resigned his position and is spending the Winter in California. Mr. Hull is one of the best-known men in his line.

The Pairpoint Mfg. Co., Jan. 1, will move to larger quarters in the fine six-story block of modern construction at 224 Wabash Ave. "Everything is going south" said Manager G. J. Corey, "and we will have a far better location. We will double our space, having a salesroom 30 x 176 feet and the second floor for stock. Our increasing business required that some means of relief be found. Our quarters were ample five years ago, but are now outgrown. The books show a large increase in trade over that of a year ago"

The wife of A. D. Miller, a traveler for the Pairpoint Mfg. Co., left her flat at 209 W. 118th St. vacant several weeks ago and went into the country. During her absence William Washington and two companions gained an entrance to the apartments and stole about $750 worth of silverware, paintings, etc.,and damaged the furniture to the extent of $1,000. Wednesday, the boy was arrested and held in $2,000 bail.

The Pairpoint Corp. of New Bedford, has filed its annual statement through its treasurer, William A. Clarke, at the Secretary of State’s office as follows: Assets — Real estate, $472,625; machinery, tools, etc., $373,767; merchandise, $269,243; cash, $69,524; accounts receivable, $248,150; notes receivable, $2,763; vehicles, $5,000; investments, $250,047; total, $1,691,119. Liabilities — Capital, $900,000; accounts payable, $144; depreciation, $292,046; profit and loss, $498,929.

The casket hardware department of the Pairpoint Manufacturing Co,, New Bedford, Mass., has been purchased by the Springfield Silver Plate Co., Springfield, Ohio. The capital stock of this company will be increased to $200,000, and the new business will be conducted in connection with that already established at Springfield. The company will now employ about two hundred persons.

O. H. Hull and C. F. Couts will henceforth look after the interests of the Pairpoint Manufacturing Co. in Chicago and the great cities of the West and Northwest until May 1. They will spend the greater part of their time in Chicago, where they will be found permanently located at 224 Wabash Avenue, assisting Manager Corey and looking after exhibits at the Exposition, O. E. Baumgarten is now out, representing the Pairpoint Co, in Illinois, Missouri and Kansas; E. B. Frank, in Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado and New Mexico; and C. W. Miller, in Wisconsin, Minnesota and the Dakotas.
