For what it is worth, the Gibney pattern shown in the alphabetical listing by maker's name for Michael Gibney bears a strong resemblance to a pattern patented by F H Gibney in 1862, patent no. 1657. I believe F H Gibney was probably Michael Gibney's son Francis H Gibney.

Shmedtie Washington D C

August and Henry Shmedtie are listed as jewelers in census's and directories in the District of Columbia from 1870 through at least the 1890's. August is specifically listed as a watchmaker and Henry as a jeweler in the 1870 census.

A passport application shows that Henry immigrated in 1860. No doubt August came over at the same time.

Both are shown in Civil War era U.S. IRS Tax Assessment Lists for the District of Columbia.

W D Steward

I suspect this is the same person who was in a partnership with William R Stevens in the third quarter of the nineteenth century in Washington County, New York.
