WINNIPEG
An arch of ice inscribed with the words "Welcome to the Curlers' was one of the Birks' attractions at the bonspiel this year. Crossed brooms and curling stones added to the attractiveness of the display, but the real feature was a Birks watch keeping perfect time encased in the ice. Located on the Portage Ave. walk in front or the store, the ice monument attracted considerable attention. The other establishments were also alive to the business which might be lurking round as a result of the Influx of stone heavers, and windows were appropriately dressed for the occasion.
